#36 the beginning and the end

2009 has truly been a superbly awesome year for me.
sure, i was in NS most of the time, but i did lots of awesome stuff as well.
went on 4 impulse holidays, 3 concerts, went to lots of cosplay events, bought lots of stuff and got to know lots of friends.

of the 4 impulse holidays:
by impulse, i meant that i was decided on impulse.

the first being my 8 day perth trip in september with ruiyuan, khengming and jiahao. the whole thing started with ruiyuan in the office suggesting that we should look at the availability of SAF chalets in perth. and bingo! there was an available slot. and thus, "click now, think later" the next thing we knew, were we on our way to perth.
the perth trip was truely awesome, and i really want to thank you guys for making it happen. and if possible, i'll like to go again with you guys. thanks to the spammage of photos during the trip, i am able to recall every bit of detail. shall try to write about the whole trip if i have the time... hopefully.

the 2nd trip would be to KL with ruiyuan, eugene and eugene's 2 other friends. this again was kinda on impulse, being eugene confirmed me as one of the people going even without telling me, so yeap, ended up going along. the KL was kinda tiring in a way, as lots of walking was involved. it was quite relaxing though, well then again, anytime away from the office, is relaxing. ate lots of food on the trip. KL = cheap cheap food! =x

3rd trip was to vietnam with my mum. my mum kinda decided for me on impulse. she called me while i was at AFA to tell me that she will be getting the tickets then, and if i could confirm if i wanted to go. i naturally confirmed, being that i wanted to accompany my mum there. the vietnam trip kinda sucked though. there was nothing much to see in ho ching minh.

coincidentally, i sorta confirmed my 4th trip on the same day. it was at AFA when shiro asked if i wanted to go to comic fiesta at sunway, KL. this trip was like awesome! my first time being in sunway, although didn't get the chance to play in the theme park, went to comic fiesta. met lots of new friends and bought anime pins! which were like cheaper there. also had like 3 days of sucky A&W and watch avatar on the big big screen. the KL trip can be read in my previous posts, so i shall not blabber on.

of the 3 concerts:
or 3 which i can remember going to:
THE EPIC FINAL FANTASY DISTANT WORLDS CONCERT! OMG! FREAKING EPIC! nuff said.

then there was the AFA concert, which was also awesome, cause it was my first time watching a japanese concert. although i was at the free seating area which was quite far from the stage, the feeling was there nonetheless. =3

the other was Yui Makino's concert which was kinda a let down, as described in my previous post, it didn't really deserve the ticket price.

of the things i bought:
ok, it's actually not alot, but good buys. i think overall, the 2 biggest buys on 2009 would be my pink ipod nano and my canon dslr. both costing quite a bomb. love die those 2 items. practically saved like forever to get those. that would be if you're saving from something called, ns allowance. don't think i'll be working for 2010 so i guess i got to save harder to get the stuff that i want...

of cosplay events:
omg, i went to so many that i've actually lost count..
let me see... soy, cosfest, stgcc, gca, afa, comic fiesta, eoy, i think that should be about it.

of friends met:
a really big thank you to everyone that i got to know over this whole year, i must say, this year would really have been different if i haven't got to know you all! and whoever is reading this, a big thank you!

of 2010:
although it's the start of the new year, it's also saddening to say that my favourite cosplayer would be going overseas to study come January, and i forsee that chances to see her cosplay again would be very rare... as she will also need to concentrate on her studies, gambatte-neh! am going to miss your awesome cosplays!
i'll be starting university in 2010 too, so i guess i won't be playing that much when the year starts, should be concentrating more on my studies... though that is what i always say, and end up playing in the end... then again, this is like my last chance to actually study, so i should also do my best, gambatte myself too!

thus...
2010, i dare you to be a better year then 2009.

orientation was fine i guess.
seriously can't remember all the people in my group if you asked me. =x would have prefered if it was a camp, as this would enable more interaction time and such, sure, the turn out would not be as good but it would definitely be more fun. and i got to do my secret fantasy of doing the hoedown throwdown mass dance. lol

and i seriously need to trim my hair soon... think i shall do so tomorrow. =x

...the year is coming to end soon... kinda miss all the crazy stuff that i did...

didn't really do much today. =x got woken up from a call school, about my orientation tomorrow...
went to eoy yesterday with shiro and potter. yes potter came to sg to attend eoy.
and thanks to shiro i got to take a picture with my idolllllllll. =D now he has something to blackmail me with.. shit. gotta get him to process and send me the pic asap. =x
eoy this time was held at the national library... which is like... uberly small compared to the old eoy at expo, and the old one being small already.. =x
and yet again, thanks for shiro, i got to see yui makino's concert for free. >< $61 ticket. (gotta thank his friends kei and jay too. ><) the concert was uberly short, really not worth the ticket price. =x went for fish mee hoon noodle for dinner after the concert. kinda felt bad cause was like kinda pangseh-ing potter by going for the concert. will try to be a better host next time! ><><
and yeap, orientation is tml... 8.30am... supposed to wear shorts so it will be easier to play games... lolx. shall see how it goes. it's a one day thing, so i should be able to blog or something about it tomorrow night. hopefully i'll have an awesome time. lol

it's christmas eve and i'm spending it at home in front of my computer screen.. sweet.

i just got back from my KL/CF trip yesterday, did like lots of random stuff there. so i guess i should just do point form or something like that. =x i'm just lazy
and i might leave out the pictures, u can find them on my facebook account.

Day1: met shiro at harbourfront center at around.. 5.45pm. and we collected our tickets at the aeroline counter. then went to breadtalk for a small snack before going to the bus lobby.
and... the bus has no wifi.
ok, wifi aside, "in bus" entertainment consisted of 2 movies, ARTREK and ANSFORMERS. yes they were showing some super wide screen show which was not scalled properly for the screen. and the artrek was like a super chiong russian version that had like epic phail colors, which made a show with awesome colors look like it was made in the eighties.
we were served dinner from the "the chicken rice shop". yeap, we had surprise surprise, fish rice for dinner!
we finally reached sunway like at around 12midnight, and i finally got to meet the legendary sunway lion while we waiting for shiro friend's potter to come pick us up.
it was my first time being in a cosplayer's house, and i must say, it was indeed an awesome experience.
other people staying at potter's place would be the CC and jothan (perm staff), Shio, Wani and Shan wen. + someother of potter's friends who i don't really know.

Day2: it was their malaysia's holiday but jothan had to go to work. so potter and CC brought us out for breakfast with some of the other friends. had like ampang yong tau fu, which was like quiet awesome, the fried gouza was abit filling though, can't imagine how they managed to clear 200 pieces the other time.
as potter and crew had to do preparation for CF, shiro and I went to explore sunway, sunway hotel has like awesome toilets. =x while walking around, we encounter the epic black list A&W which even potter, CC and jothan blacklisted. we tried to order this coney dog buddy meal...
Me: hi, i'd like to upsize to large root beer float
Epic phail counterstaff: Sorry, only regular
Me: mmm... ok... i'd like to change my fries to large curly fries
Epic phail counterstaff: Sorry, only regular
Me: mmm... ok then just regular curly fries.
Epic phail counterstaff: Sorry, only regular
Me: what the...
blacklist blacklist blacklist!

we also tried to get tickets for avatar the movie, but the queue was like epic long so shiro gave up. spent the rest of the day at the sunway mall. and their wifi is like epic phail, can't really seem to get a solid connection.
we later had dinner with CC, CQ, and jothan at some place which like speicalised in bittergound. =x the salt egg chicken was like awesome, hahaha, i think shiro can drool on the thought of it.

Day3: Comic Fiesta Day1
had like mac for breakfast.
shall leave out details. just went around taking photos. skipped lunch, and had like pasta de gohan set meal for dinner with shiro and valentine, it was like super filling that me and shiro didn't really finish our meal.

Day4: Comic Fiesta Day2
wanted to have subway for breakfast but they were not open... had mac again.
lunch was at the blacklisted A&W again, cause the rest of the photogs wanted to eat there. ordered the icecream waffle and root beer float ala cart, so they can't scam me into not being able to change my meal items... the waffle was like... soft. and the syrup was like sticky goo (which is gross). blacklist blacklist blacklist!
dinner was at carl's jr. had like.. classic burger, which was like an upsized cheeseburger, didn't know why i upsized my meal, but i did... again. nearly died finishing it. few of the photogs left for singapore that night...

Day5: monday. CC and jothan left for work. potter took off, so she brought us to some nearly hawker centre for breakfast, but not before dropping wani off at the busstop. had like chee chong fun and wanton noodle, the chee chong fun was like awesome stuff. potter the later dropped us of at the "mrt" station for us to make our way off to our next host's place. shiro kept psychoing potter to come over for eoy. =x
upon reaching the station of your next host (ayase) shiro was told that she was going to meet up with xrystal, so... we went together... back to sunway... back to... the blacklisted A&W.. seems like we can't avoid staying away from there... the counter staff this time forgot about the order so while the rest of us finished our meal, some were still waiting for their curly fries... blacklist! blacklist! blacklist! we then walked around sunway again. cause ayase and her friends wanted to shop around abit.
dinner was at kim gary restraunt. which is like awesome food... how did we miss out of this place while all the time spend in sunway? x.x mystery. lol

Day6: we waited for ayase to go out together, however she later told us that she will be going over to her boyfriend's place for dinner, so in the end shiro and i went over to times square and sungei wang ourselves. bought our tickets for avatar at the imax at times square. wouldn't really have known that the imax was there if ayase hadn't told us, cause it wasn't listen anywhere in their directory... tickets was like awesomely cheap it was like.. 12RM which is like... S$5. although there were seat numbers printed on the ticket, it was free seating.. how awesome is that.. hahaha, this was because not much people watch at the imax outlet, and there were like only 9 people other then us who bought tickets.
we then headed to sungei wang where shiro bought some old fashion magazines for like really cheap prices before going back to times square for food before the movie. finally got to taste wendy's. i must say it tasted alot like Burger King, not that i'm complaining.
the theatre kinda reminded me of vivo city's GVmax. movie was awesome. we later had teppanyaki at sungei wang for dinner.

Day7: Ayase only took 2 days of leave so she had to go back to work today. her parents fetched shiro and i over to the "mrt" station and we made our way to KLCC. had like nandos for lunch before going to the kino outlet there. this was followed by coffeebean a large costs about... 14.50RM which is like still cheaper the in singapore.
we then walked over to corus hotel which is where our bus back was stationed at. the bus back was smaller though. and they showed transformers again... which was followed by the epic phail dragon ball evolution. reached back in harbour front around 10.30pm, where we parted ways at outrum park mrt station.

a big thanks for shiro, potter, ayase, cc, jothan, wani, shio, shan wen, amano for his awesome lighting and whoever i missed out. ><
potter is coming over for eoy. yays. *plays FF victory theme here* for shiro

shall be leaving for malaysia with shiro in a few hours time. heading to sunway/kl.
this would mean CF and A&W! lolx.
this would also be the longest period of time i've ever stayed in malaysia. as from 17-23 dec, it would be a full week's stay there. and i have a feeling that i brought too much random stuff which will in the end not be used. =x have yet to complete packing, but still.. blog post first. =x
i've also recently chanced upon this anime; Sora no Manimani.
it's lasts 12 episodes long with 3 specials, however i'm like only halfway thru it, shall continue when i come back. =p
somehow i really like this anime, cause it's about stargazing/astronomy which is like something that excites me. so yeap, when they feature going to a planetarium in one of the episodes, it made me really want to go to one, sadly, i don't think singapore has it anymore.

not really sure when i'll post again, so yeah, till then... loves all!

oh and happy advanced birthday to jian-jie and grace!

am like kinda enrolled into sim, rmit.
however, although i was able to login to their student portal;
my mail isn't working
and i am unable to see my timetable due to some error.

and they state that students are to send mails via the school mail only.
that's like very nice, cause i can't even seem to access it.
might go down tomorrow to bitch at them and get my id card photo taking done. blah*

climbing up a hill with sore legs is not a good idea. Nearly felt my legs giving way while climbing up jesus mountain. And my camera kept taking over exposed pictures, so i didn't take much. View from the top reminded me of the view from cape leeuwin light house.
Went on the visit a whale temple and the beach next. Was then back to ho ching minh city to view the red church which is the starting point of top gear vietnam special. We also visited the local post office beside the church.
Its was back to the hotel which we stayed at for the first night. This also meant good wifi connection. Lol.

Oh yeah, and the bad point of having a moving cbox is that if your browser is too small, you are unable to post anything, cause the box keeps moving before you can click on it.

@grace. My mum says its around 800++ and 500++ for budget air.. So i guess its a 300 difference? Lol

the wifi at the 2nd hotel is like very week. Its wifi nonetheless. =p
Did some tunneling today. Went into the tunnels used by during the vietnam people to hide from the us troops. The tunnels were like super small. Had to duck walk thru the first one and went on all 4s for the second. Then it was back to more travelling on the road. Food was suprisingly good. Lol. Shall be going to jesus mountain and the beach tomorrow..

day1. Its been 10years since i last sat on SIA.
Thank god for wifi.
I'm like currently leeching to a nearby hotel for wifi cause the one i'm staying at somehow doesn't have it. I must say because of it's modern look, the vietnam airport has made me believe that the rest of vietnam is of the same standard. However, on the way to the hotel, i feel as though i'm on a tour in china. X.x
Day 1 was free and easy so we just walked around the surroundings of the hotel. There's this bugis village like place which sold almost anything from food to clothes. Had beef noodles for dinner. I must say, it tasted better then it looked.
Tomorrow will be looking at tunnels used in the vietnam war(i forsee myself getting claustrophobic, and maybe the fearofbreathingintoomuchofotherpeoplescarbondioxidephobia), temple seeing and seaside visiting.

am going to make this post short, cause i still have like stuff to pack. leaving for vietnam tomorrow morning, will be back friday night. and i finally finalised my KL trip thingy. will be gone, 17-23 dec.
mmmmmmmmm.... oh yeah, i like finally received rmit's reply. there will be a phototaking session for the student card... like... why? i've like already submitted 3 passport sized photos already, why do i still have to do a phototaking session? where in the world/ or what in the world happened to that 3 photos? did some perv like take them home or something?
so... i guess it's back to packing? =3
oh and i wonder why JK starts school on jan11 when i start on jan4?

i'm like attaching my Dec schedule below. doubt you all can see the text thou, but yeah, red means i have something on that day. then again, you can like view it on my upcoming events list on the right nav.
i think i won't be updating my blog much this month. =/

oh yea, i've also added this miku clock thing on my blog, click on her to make her tell the time in jap, or click on the music note to make her sing.

and i watched diehard4.0 on channel 5 just now. awesome movie! hahaha, i think it's like better then 2012 and new moon. =x that just my pov though. hahaha.

went to meet up with some of my ex-camp mates this morning at lot1 as csscom was having their cohesion there, it was sorta a movie outing which ended quite early. yays for them. went for lunch at subway with shiro, imao and andrew. andrew ordered a foot long and finished it before our 6inch. x.x
andrew and i then went to shiro's place which was like at tampines... which is like.. very far away from my place. the weather wasn't looking that good when we reached tampines mrt station, it was "rainy with a chance of lightning." unfortunately for us, it wasn't completely sheltered to his house, so we had to like walk in the rain. which resulted in only my socks getting wet. (a sign that it's time to change shoes. =] )
went to shiro's house to watch bluray movies on his new tv. watched star trek and indiana jones: raiders of the lost ark. we found out that andrew has weird taste as he prefers IJ over ST, and think ST isn't that nice. which i think is utterly nonsense, ST was like an awesome movie, this would be my 3rd time watching it.
went to century mall for dinner. had delicious sliced fish bee hoon at the kopitiam as recommended my shiro. then walked around the malls there before going back home. am still wondering why is there a need for 3 shopping malls next to each other, are they trying to make an orchard road there? which will like be more favourable for the east siders only. =/

and might consider extending my KL stay by 2 more days... shall see how it goes..

went out for a mini gathering/dinner with reeve, fang ming, and fang ming's girlfriend; xinyan.
we initially wanted to go to sushi tei at holland v for dinner, but it was quite full so we went to fosters instead. also at holland v. if not wrong that place used to be the old eski bar. prices at fosters were... quite "nice" haha, but i guess, for the standard of the food, the price was worth it.
i had this baked fish thing. at first glance it would look like some normal baked rice set, but no rice were harmed during the creation of this dish. lol
we went for ice cream after that. didn't know that daily scoop finally decided to branch out! =] they now have a new outlet in holland v. however, it's not really in holland v, but somewhere near it. this outlet compared to the one at my house, is bigger and more spacious, thus also less homely. i still prefer the outlet at my house though, although it's like super small, but very homely. =3
oh yeah, found out that reeve's family changed car and he is now driving a merc. and fangming has a D90. =3 lolx.

ok, so i went to daiso yesterday after dinner to look for "paper shape cutters" or whatever you call that. uberly love shopping at daiso.
i got the star design and the music note one. it's saddening to say that i was unable to find the snow flake design one, which was however available at popular bookstore, but costing $6.90.
and so, i went home to create my own d.i.y bokeh.

#1 used like lots of tape, black craft paper, and my star cutter.
and it was like anal trying to find a pair of scissors in the house.
here's what my bokeh turned out to look like:

this is sorta like my prototype. so ya, shall try to make more improvements to it. i shall name it... grace#1 since she like intro-ed it to me mmmmm... lol

#2 when combined with my 50mm lens. yeap. lots of tape.

#3 with reference to the youtube video grace showed me, i tried taking some shots of the scenery stuff outside my window. this was with a lower shutter speed.

and the guy in the video seriously wasn't joking about the shutter speed. this photo below was taken at a longer shutter of 3 secs. had like a hard time trying not to move at all...
had to use the self timer to reduce movement to the camera as i didn't use a tripod...

shall try it out at like other locations. cause this is all i could get at my place... ;A;

and i guess i should book my bus tickets soon, once i confirm with shiro again. =3

somehow i forgot to post an entry yesterday...
went to the IT fair on sunday. nearly died as usual, however i found that this time round, although at expo, was smaller then previous times. i didn't buy much as booths i were looking for weren't there. so in the end i just managed to buy a 320gb external hdd and an 8gb sd card. went for dunno at tampines mall after that.

went to SIM to submit my reply form and school fee, then i went to the student helpdesk to ask about stuff regarding enrolment day. as i was unable to attend the enrolment as i will be overseas, i had to get someone to attend it, which i guess, that person would be my dad.. lol.
i also found out that SIM didn't have that many ccas avaliable, which is like.. sad. however i've like already eye-ed some of the courses that i might join. =3

grace also like intro-ed me this bokeh thingy, which is pronounced as boke-uh. which also means artistic blur, in a good way. shall go and d.i.y some myself and try. =3
